A Driving Force Behind Our Fundraising Success
Since 2017, Neil Pretty—founder of the Big Shot Golf online Golf Society—has been a passionate and consistent supporter of Martha Trust. His journey with us began at the Prince’s Golf Day, where, in his own words, “We had a great time and it went from there.” That single day sparked a long-standing partnership rooted in community, compassion, and a shared commitment to making a difference.
Total raised: £13,515
Through a series of golf fundraisers and events, Neil and the Big Shot Golf Society have raised an incredible £13,515 to date. Their dedication has helped fund vital care and support for people with profound disabilities, and their events have become a highlight in our fundraising calendar.
Why Neil supports Martha Trust
Neil’s connection to our cause is deeply personal. He shares:
Back in November 2008, our first daughter was born 11 weeks early. During her early development, doctors noticed she wasn’t reacting to sounds or attempting to roll over. After many tests, she was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy—a condition that primarily affects the legs, causing muscle stiffness and difficulty with motor control. She was also selectively mute.
While she has made wonderful progress—so much so that many friends and classmates wouldn’t even know—I’m acutely aware that things could have turned out very differently. She could have needed the kind of specialist care that Martha Trust provides. So, as you can see, the charity resonates with me on a personal level.
Kerry is also a wonderful representative of Martha Trust. It’s a pleasure to work with her on some of our fundraising efforts.
